Challenger Sports To Offer Skill Development Program

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!!
GCAA teams with Challenger Sports
to offer weekly Professional Training for Players

GCAA Soccer is excited to offer a great opportunity for our players this Spring. We have teamed with Challenger Sports to offer a weekly training session with a British Soccer trainer who has a wealth of experience working with kids of all ages and abilities.

We have offered this training for the last 3 seasons at GCAA, and it has been very popular. The kids who have participated have had a great time while improving their soccers skills.

These sessions will be held on the GCAA campus each Friday afternoon for 7 weeks during our regular soccer season starting March 16th. Please be aware that these training sessions will be held at the same time that some teams will have practice which may limit your child's ability to participate in this training.

The sessions will be primarily focused on improving individual ball control skills. The training is $75. Registrations are very limited so sign up soon. Please note that this training is open to Rec AND Travel players. Although all interested players are invited, this training is truly aimed at the more serious players that want to advance their soccer skills.

This training is open to GCAA and non-GCAA players.

Please see the link below for full details and how to register.

New U04 and U05 Academy Soccer

Starting in the Spring of 2012 GCAA Rec Soccer will introduce our U04 and U05 Soccer Academy. The U04 Academy will replace the traditional U04 league that we have offered for the past several seasons. The current (very large) U06 league will be split into a U05 Soccer Academy league, and a standard U06 league based on player ages.

Each Academy session is limited to 24 - 32 players. A paid, professional coach will serve as the Academy Director. The Academy Director, with the assistance of several Volunteer Parent Coaches, will lead the players through several small group sessions of fun games and drills for approximately 30 minutes. Each Academy session will end with about 15 minutes of scrimmage-like games.

Highlights of Academy:
All players receive similar high quality training.
Volunteer Coaches receive weekly training to help improve their coaching skills.
1 day of soccer each week... (no Saturday game day)
Each player receives a shirt and socks.
Size 3 ball provided for new players (those that did not play in the Fall)

Requirements:
Players must not have turned 4 years old (U04 Academy) or 5 years old (U05 Academy) before August 1, 2011.
Players must wear shin guards to every session.
Players must bring their own size 3 soccer ball to every session.

The season will consist of 8 training sessions.... each session will be 45 to 60 minutes in length.... one weeknight each week.
