Travel baseball is the top level of youth competitive baseball that GCAA offers. These players are highly committed and focused on the game of baseball. All games are played on weekends in a tournament setting. Players are selected by individual travel team coaches to participate. Individual coaches determine the team tournament schedules. Coaches are responsible for scheduling tournaments with sanctioning bodies such as Top Gun, USSSA and AAU. Depending on the coach and skill level, teams may play local tournaments or travel throughout NC and outside the state.
The cost of each player to play is $110*. This only includes player insurance and field usage fees. There will be additional costs associated to cover uniforms and tournament fees, based on the number of tournaments that are played as well as any other fees/costs associated with the team and determined by the coach/team.
Batting helmet, glove, cleats, bat, warm-up ball, catchers gear (if applicable) and a positive attitude! Please be sure that long pants are worn for sliding, regardless of temperature, and dress appropriately.
Player Rating and Draft
You won't know if you can make the team unless they try out! It's a simple assessment. Our coaches are tasked with putting the best teams on the field. With only 1 team in each age group, there are limited spots, but the fact is that the assessment is the best way to gauge your player's skills.GCAA will house only 1 travel team per age group. If interested in coaching or putting together an 8u - 13u travel team please contact Director of Travel baseball Tom Dandeneau for more information.
Practice schedule, time and duration is determined by the head coach.
Tournaments are played locally, statewide and outside the state. Most teams elect to play locally with minimal travel, however as team experience grows, additional travel may be required.
Fall: Registrations are in July. Practices begin in August. Games are September and October.
Spring: Registrations are in January. Practices begin in March. Games run from late March to early June.
