The Cleveland Community area of Johnston County has always been a hot-bed of youth baseball. The GCAA is proud to continue that tradition. We offer recreational baseball for children between the ages of 4 & 14. Eligibility in leagues is determined by your child’s age on May 1st of the spring season.
Baseball is offered in both the spring and fall seasons. The fall is when players move up to their next age bracket, which creates more of an instructional league – perfect for the first time player. This is also a good time for experienced players to enhance their skills by taking advantage of additional practice time and drills.
Our spring seasons typically yield more kids, more teams and greater competition. Our spring seasons also include Select and Tournament teams which offer a higher level of competition by playing games against Select teams and travel tournaments within our surrounding communities. Tryouts are open to all players that participate in our Recreation League program.
We offer T-Ball for 4, 5 and 6 year olds, Machine Pitch for 7 and 8 year olds, Minor Leagues for 9 and 10 year olds, Major Leagues for 11 and 12 year olds and our new league The Bigs for 13 and 14 year olds.
Following each spring season, GCAA sponsors All-Star teams in our Coach Pitch, Minors, and Majors divisions. The top players in each division proudly represent the GCAA in both district and state tournaments held by the Tarheel League. Throughout the years, our young players have represented the GCAA well, bringing home numerous titles in all divisions at both the district and state levels.
We look forward to your involvement on our teams and seeing your young athlete at the ballpark!
The goal of the GCAA baseball league is to teach our children the fundamentals of baseball in a fairly competitive-based environment while teaching them sportsmanship, a good work ethic and valuable life lessons such as teamwork. This is the first level of baseball for most children and our emphasis is on making the baseball experience fun for every child, regardless of their ability.
It is the intention of the GCAA baseball program to develop your child into the best baseball player they can become. Most teams will practice only 3 hours per week in the preseason and 90 minutes during the season, therefore it is important for the PARENT/ADULT to work with their child between practices for player development.
Fall: Registrations are in July. Practices begin in August. Games are September and October.
